Rain is Insane | A Story by Joely Perets

Note: I write my articles in a story format, with almost fantastical-feeling elements (because honestly, life is weird!)

If you’d rather get all the main points quickly, no prob β€” just scoot down to the bottom of this page and you’ll find a bullet list enclosed with everything summarised.

If you’re chill with enjoying a well-written story as well β€” jolly good β€” keep readingπŸ˜€.

Some people say there’s no such thing as magic. I say that depends on how you define magic.

Why I Love the Rain

Sometimes something utterly fantastical takes place.

Hazes of whispy gasses in the sky become too cold β€” and water pummels the ground.

The air is freshened, the cars are washed. The plants are watered, the roads are cleaned and painted dark again. It’s like the sky’s doing all our chores!

If the sun shines at the same time, half of a vast, violently colourful ring appears in the distance.

If you walk outside without an umbrella, you can feel horribly frosted and sticky outwardly, while glowing with an unexplained inner warmth.

People passing on the street might give you a look of pity for your physical discomfort. They also might smile knowingly at you; as if they, too, appreciate that beautiful feeling of happy calmness that rain can bring.

There’s a constant, calming brown noise β€” like an orchestra of gentle drums. There’s a crisp, sweet, fresh smell in the air. Everything feels cool, moist, and concrete under your numb fingers. The colours grow vivid and dazzling to the eye.

You can run in the rain, you can dance in the rain, you can sing in the rain β€” you can just goof around and yell and have fun in the rain.

For me, rain makes everything better. It brings out the inner child in people who love it, and it beings out creativity in people who try and avoid it.

When it rains, I’m biologically incapable of feeling bad.

Every fantasy world has it’s own “magic system”. It’s own laws of how the universe works. In our world, that’s just science. But if you looked at it closely enough, you might find that our’s is the most magical system of all.

Some Pictures of My Garden In the Rain (Enjoy)

There’s this entire genre on YouTube of rain sounds and footage for calming down and overcoming insomnia, and I find the comment sections there to be really beautiful. Just sharing a little comment here, and along with the pictures and a link to one of these videos!

Here’s a link to an example rain sounds video:

And here are some of the comments. You might find it cringey, but to me it’s beautiful that this is what the comment section consistently looks like in all these videos:

“I pray that anyone who reads it feels loved, safe and secure. I pray for physical, mental, affection and spiritual healing for all. Peaceful dreams!”

“Listening to the rain in this video is like a gentle reminder to appreciate the simple joys in life. It’s a beautiful escape from the daily hustle and bustle.”

“To anybody reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better.”

“whoever reads this right now, may you get everything you wish, I wish you a wonderful day and a happy, peaceful life where all your dreams come true. You are amazing and beautiful! I believe in you!”

And it just goes on!!

Anyway, cheers!

  1. It’s the best time to make some plans for the future and it is time
to be happy. I have read this post and if I could I
want to suggest you few interesting things or advice.

Maybe you could write next articles referring to this article.
I want to read even more things about it!

    • Hey, thanks for the feedback!

For a while I sort of stopped posting here, but maybe I should go back to it. Either way I’ve also been posting some random lessons on Instagram as @joelysjournal (though I’ve been inconsistent there, too). I’ll get back to posting somewhere soon, and I’ll make sure to continue the rain narrative πŸ™‚

Anyway cheers and thanks for the comment :))) I really appreciate it <3
